Increase Our Faith ~ by Ronnie Archer
The Word regularly inspires us to see what faith is, and to have faith. Faith is action to do things that seem impossible. It is beyond our imagination and beyond nature. The Apostles wanted faith... they moved about with Jesus, but still they needed an increase in their faith. They could not receive faith because they were "at odds" with each other.
Everyone wants faith, and that faith can come by hearing the Word and practicing humility. In today's Gospel of Luke 17, the Apostles asked the Lord to "increase our faith"... The Lord replied with the parable of the mulberry tree. That if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to the tree, be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it would obey you.
Old habits that have been deep rooted in us, and are spread around like the roots of a mulberry tree, are very hard to change; but with faith the size of a mustard seed, it CAN be done. The mountain, in another parable, represents the obstacles on our paths; they can be overcome only by faith and love.
Our conversion starts when we begin looking... not at GOD and not at others, but at ourselves... take faith by being humble.
