Fr. Jim's Jots ~ Black History Month - 2.3.2019
Fr. Jim's Jots
This weekend we begin the celebration of Black History Month. Throughout February, we as a parish are privileged to offer a series of speakers; the dates are:
Thursday, February 7
Tuesday, February 12
Thursday, February 21
Thursday, February 28
Each talk will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
This week on Thursday, February 7, Sr. Cora Marie Billings, RSM and Deacon Charles Williams will give their thoughts and reflections on the 2018 pastoral letter against racism by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, "Open Wide Our Hearts". Please plan on attending.
Just a heads up; the Catholic Diocese of Richmond will be releasing in February, the list of priests who have been accused or have sexually abused minors. Please pray for the victims of sexual abuse and their families and may we ask the church to ask for forgiveness of our sins and be transparent and honest with this issue in the future.
Mark your calendars, it's almost here: BINGO! on Friday, February 15, following the 12 noon Mass. We will have a light soup and sandwich luncheon ($5.00) followed by Bingo! Please see the kiosk or call the parish office to reserve your spot. 804 329-4599, Ext. 10.
Blessings,
Fr. Jim
