Fr. Jim's Jots - Third Sunday of Lent, March 7, 2021

Cleansing of the Temple by Peter Koenig

Fr. Jim's Jots

Greetings during this time of Lent.  I hope you are "Repenting from Sin and Returning to the Lord" and "to remember that thou are dust and to dust thou shall return."  During this difficult time, may we all turn to the Lord and believe in an Easter and a new Springtime in both a spiritual and seasonal way.

Please remember to join us for the Stations of the Cross on Zoom every Friday of Lent at 6 p.m.; the Good Friday Stations will be at 12 noon.

This Sunday at the 8:30 a.m. Mass, we will celebrate the Rite of Welcome; this is for folks thinking about entering into the Church and become Catholic at Easter.  Please pray for all those entering into the Church.  Also, if you have a child who you would like to be baptized, contact the parish office ASAP.  We have not done any baptisms for over a year and I know we have several families looking forward to celebrating this sacrament of welcome.

On March 27, we will have blessed Palms for you to pick up at church and if you wish to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  "Drive by" stay in your car and I'll meet you outside.

RISC is hosting their large yearly meeting, "Nehemiah Action", on March 23, at 6:30 p.m.; a link will follow.  Special thanks to all our members for Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church who are involved in RISC: the area leader is Emily Small, a member of Saint Elizabeth.  We are also so pleased to have the help and input of Sr. Tiberh, Deacon Chris, Nancy Kunkel and Larry Williford to name a few.  Thanks for your involvement.  You make a difference in our parish and the City of Richmond.

If you have some time and would like to help with volunteer work, please stop by the parish grounds and pick up large sticks and trash and clean outside porches and doors/windows to help us get ready for spring.  Also it would be a great help to the volunteers who mow our lawn, not to damage the mowers due to the larger sticks and trash.  Thanks.

Blessings, this Lent,

Fr. Jim
