Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.  It is also observed for celebrating African- American culture.  Originating in Galveston Texas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19th in various parts of the United States since 1865.  We continue to work for an end to the sin of racism.

Also, Happy Father's Day to those living and deceased.  May we, your sons and daughters love, cherish and respect the gift of your presence in our lives.

We are in need of Deacons in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.  Please pray and consider becoming a Deacon.  The following are necessary for the applicant:


* Has been a Roman Catholic for a minimum of five years

* A registered parishioner with the Catholic Diocese of Richmond

* Completed high school, possesses at least a GED, and is able to handle college level course work

* Is less than 60 years of age

* If married, must be in a valid marriage for at least 5 years.  If your wife dies, you must remain celibate

* Applicants must be actively involved in the Church
