FATHER JIM'S JOTS - Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time - September 10, 2023

 Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 10, 2023

Season Of Creation

FATHER JIM'S JOTS

Greetings!!

On Sunday, September 24th, we will have a Second Collection for Catholic Schools.  St. Elizabeth's has very close relationships with All Saints Catholic School and Christo Rey Richmond Catholic High School.  Several of our families have children attending these schools.  At the 10 a.m. Mass on September 24th, Scott Meadows, the principal of All Saints Catholic School will briefly speak about the mission and work of the school.  Supporting our Catholic Schools is important to give children a quality Catholic education.

As we did last week, you are invited to share what you are doing to care for the environment on the post-it notes on the poster board in front of the Altar.

Here are some highlights from post-its made last Sunday:

~ Replace paper napkins with cloth napkins

~ Use wool dryer balls not dryer sheets

~ Pick up trash at Echo Lake

~ Increase recycling - decrease trash

Prayer of Commitment to Care for Creation

We have come to renew our covenant with God and with one another in Christ Jesus, our Lord.  We have come to help protect God's creation.

We have come as followers of Jesus to commit ourselves anew to one another and to heal injustice and poverty.

We have come to stand together against all threats to life.

We have come to discover some new beauty every day in God's creation: the sunrise and sunset, birds, flowers and trees, rainbows in the sky, the stars, the many forms of life in the forest.

We have come to listen to the "music of the universe" - water flowing over rocks, the wind, trees bending in the wind, raindrops pattering on the roof.

We will remember always that God speaks to us through the beauty of His creation, and we will try our best to answer God's call to reverence all that He has created.

Amen

Blessings,

Fr. Jim
