Third Sunday of Lent
March 3, 2024
FATHER JIM'S JOTS
Greetings!!
This Sunday I am returning from my retreat. I expect to be back in Richmond on Monday. In my absence, I thank Msgr Walter Barrett for being here to celebrate Masses this Sunday.
Next Sunday we will have a second collection for Catholic Relief Services. For the past two years, we have applied for a grant from CRS Rice Bowl and have received the grant money from them. Please consider supporting the second collection.
On every Friday at 6 p.m. we have Stations of the Cross in the Church. If you haven't attended Stations yet, I encourage you to try to attend one over the next three weeks. Please join us for this powerful experience of prayer and meditation.
On March 23rd, we will have a Lenten Retreat led by Sr. Anns James and a communal Reconciliation Service to follow at 12 p.m. There are more details about this retreat in the E-Bulletin this weekend. At the Reconciliation Service, we will have 5 priests, including myself, from around the diocese to hear confessions. As Catholics, one of our wonderful gifts from God, Our Father, is the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I encourage you to attend both the retreat and the Reconciliation Service that weekend leading up to Palm Sunday and Holy Week.
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our 2024 Annual Appeal through your generous donations and prayers. If you have yet to make your contribution to our appeal goal, please scan the QR code in this bulletin or the link in our E-Bulletin to give online. Extra envelopes for the appeal can be gotten from an usher after any Mass on weekends or throughout the week or by visiting the Parish Office.
Blessings,
Fr. Jim
