FATHER JIM'S JOTS

Greetings!

During this Easter season, we are called to see Christ in all our brothers and sisters throughout the world and pray for Jubilee hope for all.

 This is a familiar passage by Pastor Martin Niemoller who was in Germany before and after World War II:

"First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

and I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

and I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me"

We are called and a people of faith to speak out against the sin of racism and hate.  This is our faith.  May we put our faith into action.
