Fr. Jim's Jots - 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time - August 25, 2019
Fr. Jim's Jots
Greetings!
Today we are blessed to welcome Bishop Joseph Perry from the Archdiocese of Chicago. Bishop Perry is the postulator for the cause for canonization of Fr. Augustus Tolton as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. This process is long and difficult. Please keep Bishop Perry in your prayers.
Ironically, also this week we sadly commemorate 400 years of African history and culture in the U.S. and continue (or begin) the work of racial healing. We join our friends in the Episcopal Church who have invited individuals or families to find a bell somewhere in our homes, walk out on our porches and yards, and ring that bell at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019. The bells will be rung for liberation of our brothers and sisters, too long denied human dignity and human rights.
Thank you for ringing a bell for long-deserved freedom.
Blessings,
Fr. Jim Arsenault
