"We Are Going The Distance With Jesus"

That's the theme of the Diocesan Celebration for the National Day of Prayer for the African American Family 2007 that will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Holy Rosary Church. The time is 2 p.m. Don't miss out on this event because you will have the opportunity to hear Ms Carol Dufresne preach. She is the Campus Minister at Hampton and Norfolk State Universities.

And if you didn't get enough of the St. Elizabeth's Gospel Choir's voices during Mass that morning, you will have another opportunity to hear us sing. We've practiced hard for this event. You won't be disappointed.

And, in case you have Super Bowl plans, the timing of this program is perfect. You'll be back home in plenty of time to enjoy the game.

There will be a Wednesday Mass celebrated at St. E's beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21st. I believe it will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Stations of the Cross during Lent.

If anyone has more or different information than the above, please add a comment.

Thanks, Mary Ann for the article on the scripture sharing, since I was a part of that session, I can say it was truly a rewarding experience, brought back "old times". I look forward to others in the future.

I also attended the AFRICAN AMERICAN DAY OF PRAYER, at Holy Rosary, it was wonderful. Carol Dufresne is such a dynamic speaker. She preached from the 3rd chapter of Daniel, about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, in the fiery furnace because of their refusal to worship the king's "golden god"....and how they were unharmed, because GOD was in the furnace WITH them. Carol made the point that God will sometimes allow us to remain in the "furnace" of our lives, whatever that may be, BUT HE will be there with us, giving us whatever we might need to endure.

OUR choir sang BEAUTIFULLY AND everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. There was an acquaintance who attended St.Elizabeth on this past Sunday, because she "enjoyed" our choir so much at Holy Rosary. They truly were a blessing to us all. I just hope next year that more people from other churches attend so they may be also blessed by this experience.

I add that Bishop Di Lorenzo was in attendance, he also seemed to enjoy it.
