Corpus Christi Sunday
June 19, 2022
Fr. Jim's Jots
Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is also observed for celebrating African- American culture. Originating in Galveston Texas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19th in various parts of the United States since 1865. We continue to work for an end to the sin of racism.
Also, Happy Father's Day to those living and deceased. May we, your sons and daughters love, cherish and respect the gift of your presence in our lives.
We are in need of Deacons in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. Please pray and consider becoming a Deacon. The following are necessary for the applicant:

* If married, must be in a valid marriage for at least 5 years. If your wife dies, you must remain celibate
* Applicants must be actively involved in the Church

May the Lord Bless Us!
I have some difficult news. Our Church Air Conditioners in the Church have failed after 17 years. We had a joint meeting with Parish Council and Finance Council and unanimously voted to replace the A.C. with a new unit.
We have contacted Harris Mechanical who will be starting the work ASAP. However, for the next few weeks, we will need to celebrate the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Mass in the parish hall that is Air Conditioned.
We received the permission of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond to proceed. This was necessary due to the cost. We will keep you posted. Thanks for your prayers and support.
Blessings,
Fr. Jim

Greetings All!
Fr. Jim is making his way back to us after his week-long trip. Let us continue to pray for safe travels. This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday which commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. May we too be filled with the Spirit as we continue on our walk with Christ.
Today, we also celebrate the First Communion of these 10 children: Uwase Lexandrine, Amari Brannon, Kingston Brannon, Zoe Liban, Ellie Liban, Ingacio Sentime, Jeanson Sentime, Grace Dhabiti, Anastasia Mwatumu and Kara Hope Bledsoe.
