Fr. Jim's Jots - Second Sunday of Easter - April 24, 2022

 Second Sunday of Easter

April 24, 2022

Fr. Jim's Jots

I am so excited that today after the 11:15 a.m. Mass, I am leaving for a trip to France with special visits to Paris and Normandy.  This trip has been postponed twice due to the Covid Virus.  I will be returning Thursday, May 5th and look forward to seeing you the weekend of May 8th.

I am Irish and French.  My French family roots go back to Pierre Arsenault who was one of the first French speaking settlers to Canada.  Pierre was born in September 1646.  I look forward to great French food and celebrating Mass at the Church of Sacre' Coeur - "Sacred Heart"  overlooking Paris.  Please pray for a safe trip.

+ Blessings +

Fr. Jim's Jots - Easter Sunday - April 17, 2022

 Easter 2022

Fr. Jim's Jots

Alleluia the Lord is Risen!

Let us rejoice and be glad for all the ways God has blessed us this Easter. Today, we celebrate the Baptism of Caroline Meredith and remember that all the baptized rise to new life with Jesus.

A few reminders:

The parish office will be closed this week and will reopen Tuesday, April 26.  The summer Mass schedule will begin next month, May 26th, with Sunday Masses at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Thank you to everyone who donated Easter Lilies.  We are so grateful for your generous contributions. I hope that everyone will enjoy this wonderful Easter weekend!

Easter Blessings,

Fr. Jim

Beautiful stained glass window of St. Elizabeth as the sun was setting.  The gold in the window shimmered!  The altar stripped bare for the Good Friday service.

 Chrism Mass at the Cathedral

Blessing of the Oils

April 11, 2022

The Chrism Mass includes the blessing of the chrism oils and the renewal of the priests' vows to the Bishop.

Sister Tiberh, Phyllis Booth and Connie Hom under the Cathedral Dome!

All the seminarians, deacons and priests process in.

Fr. Jim

There is a renewal of all the priests of their priestly vows.

Then the urn of oil are processed in one by one.  The oil of the sick.

The oil of the catechumens

The oil of chrism

The oils are taken in the back and put in jars and distributed to each parish in the Diocese.  So beautiful!

Fr. Jim's Jots - Palm Sunday - April 10, 2022

 Palm Sunday

April 10, 2022

Fr. Jim's Jots

Today, as we gather as a church throughout the world, we are called to remember how Jesus entered into Jerusalem with great joy and triumph, with the crowds singing and laying palm branches on the road of his entrance, and how quickly they called out "Crucify Him."

This week of Holy Week, we too are called to gather with all our hopes and fears and pray that the "PEACE" of Jesus may be in our hearts, minds and souls during this Holy Week and throughout the Easter Season.

This holiest week of the Year, I invite all to pray and reflect on the following prayer:

Give me Grace and Mercy this Holy Week.  Guide my steps when I am not sure which way to go and the wisdom to trust in YOU in all things.  Jesus, your love brings light and hope to all who seek you.  May I seek You as I walk with You through Holy Week and beyond.  Amen.

Happy Holy Week,

Fr. Jim
