Fr. Jim's Jots - Feast of the Holy Family - Happy New Year! ~ Photo by Janet Stern

Greetings!  You're invited to participate and celebrate with us in a Mass on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2018, 5 p.m., with a delicious potluck meal to follow.  Jesus said, "My peace is my gift to You."  How important it is for us to work for peace and unity during times of trouble and difficulty as we approach the New Year.  What a wonderful way to usher in the New Year; to pray for peace and together to celebrate the Eucharist.

Prayer for Peace

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you."  Holy Spirit of peace, settle deep within my heart.  Let my actions today be free from aggression and anger.  Let my words be only ones of compassion and caring.  Let my every breath inhale your wisdom and exult your grace.  Lord, help me be an instrument of your peace.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen.

New Year's Blessings,

Fr. Jim

Fr. Jim's Jots - 4th Sunday of Advent 2018

Fr. Jim's Jots

Merry Christmas!

I'm wishing every one of our parishioners, both far and near, a blessed and Holy Christmas.  During this time of gift-giving, I pause to say thank you for the gift of St. Elizabeth's Parish.  What a blessing it is to be assigned by our bishop and the Catholic Diocese to serve in such a wonderful community. I give thanks for your kindness and warm welcome; truly we welcome the stranger!

As our staff continues to grow; still all part time, so too does our ministries and outreach.  This year in a special way we have been able to help so many individuals and families with rent, heating and Christmas gifts. Thank you.  I am also blessed and grateful for our Advent and Christmas liturgies.

Our Christmas Mass schedule is Children's program, 5 p.m., Christmas Eve and Mass follows at 6 p.m.  Christmas Day, Mass at 9 a.m. Our Mass for the Holy Day of Mary, Mother of God, New Year's Eve, December 31st at 5 p.m. with a potluck meal to follow; all are welcome.  Our parish office will be closed until January 2, 2019.

Christmas Blessings,

Fr. Jim

3rd Sunday of Advent - Fr. Jim's Jots!

Fr. Jim's Jots

Special thanks to Connie Hom, for supplying the Advent Wreath kits that were made Saturday, December 1st, following the Reconciliation Service.  It was wonderful to see so many people celebrate the sacrament of God's love, forgiveness and mercy.

Add that as a special time that will go by quickly.  I hope you will spend some time in prayer to think about our many blessings.

Today, after Mass we will decorate the church for Christmas.  If your schedule permits, your help is needed and welcomed.

Thank you for those who participated with the Jesse Tree, and the outpouring of generosity to help with gifts for those in need.

The year goes by so quickly. I am grateful and blessed for my assignment to Saint Elizabeth.

Advent Blessings,

Fr. Jim
