FATHER JIM'S JOTS - St. Elizabeth Catholic Church - Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time - August 31, 2025

St. Elizabeth Catholic Church

Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

August 31, 2025

FATHER JIM'S JOTS

Greetings,

I would like to thank Msgr. Walter Barrett for visiting St. Elizabeth's and celebrating our Sunday Masses.  Because I am away there will be no weekday Masses on September 3rd and 5th.

Today, we have a second collection to support the victims of violence in Gaza.  In a letter to the U.S. bishops, Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops asked U.S. Dioceses to consider taking up a voluntary special collection to support the efforts of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association  (CNEWA)Both organizations have well-established partnerships with the Catholic Church in the region to allow them to respond quickly and efficiently.  For more information on this second collection and the organizations that our Diocese supports, please click on the links above.

The Ministry Sign-up Fair is next Sunday!  There is a flyer with all the details in this Bulletin, but I encourage anyone who wants to learn more about our ministries and support our church to attend.  The majority of our Parish programs and our Sunday Masses rely on the support of our Ministries!  At just Sunday Mass:  Hospitality, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Choir, Altar Linens, Altar Servers and Media (Zoom) have integral roles in supporting our Parish.  We have additional 15 ministries that support our parishioners and neighborhood outside of Sunday Mass.  We will have coffee and donuts as well!

Lastly, I would like to ask that you keep the victims of those who were killed or injured in the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on earlier this week in your prayers.  I went to high school with the grandfather of one of the children who were killed.

Blessings,

Fr. Jim, Pastor
