Lenten Blessings!

Prayer, fasting and alms giving:  Please join us for Mass on Sunday 9:00 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.  It is safe to attend and I sure would like to see a few more folks at the 11:15 a.m. Mass.  We also have Mass at noon on Wednesdays and Fridays, so join us during Lent to have this season be a spiritual renewal.  Stations of the Cross are on Fridays at 6:00 p.m.  And don't forget to sign up to join us for our Lenten retreat - the theme is "Remember the Rock" and will be on Saturday, March 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are provided.  We will also have several priests here on March 26th for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) at 12 noon on March 26th.  You don't need to attend the retreat to participate in the noon reconciliation service.

 Remember that on Fridays during Lent, we as Roman Catholics abstain from meat.  What a helpful and important way to remember the Lord's Passion on Fridays, keeping in mind our own cross and being in communion with Our Lord's suffering.  May this simple act of abstaining from meat on Friday remind us to turn to the Lord.

We need to also practice alms giving.  Special thanks to all who took a "Rice Bowl" to help the poor.  Let us continue to pray and think about the Richmond Diocesan Appeal; our goal this year is $16,500.  Please help us meet our goal and make a gift to the Annual Richmond Appeal.  We need your help!

Dear St. Elizabeth Parishioner,

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and alms giving.  It brings a sense of hope, as it is a time for fresh starts with the coming of Easter and a new spring.

Last year, we were all given more time for pause and reflection, and I found myself continuously thinking of our Saint Elizabeth family.  You kept our parish moving forward during this difficult past year.  Thank you.

I am once again asking for your prayers and financial help to support our Annual Diocesan Appeal.  We need your help to meet our 2021 goal of $14,220.  As a parish, Saint Elizabeth received $18,000 in grants from this annual appeal.

We are so blessed at Saint Elizabeth for the assistance of the Appeal.  We have a church that has a new roof, parish hall floor, boiler, air conditioning in the hall, and everything painted, a vibrant Social Justice Ministry, Social Ministry/Food Pantry, and a wonderful religious education program.

You have likely received a letter and brochure from the Bishop regarding the 2021 Appeal.  I would ask you to please take a moment to reflect on all the ministries the Appeal supports and prayerfully consider a new gift or an increase in your gift if you have contributed previously.  While you are praying on your gift, please also consider giving online.  You can do so at

I know you feel Saint Elizabeth is a blessing.  Thank you for reflecting on that in your level of giving.

Second Sunday of Lent

Throughout Lent, we are called to repent from sin and turn to the Lord!  Next Saturday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m., Saint Elizabeth is pleased to offer a Communal Reconciliation Service, with a special Lenten activity and lunch to follow.  All are invited! 

We will have several priests here and we look forward to you celebrating Lent with the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  There is no wrong way to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation; if you haven't been to confession/reconciliation in awhile, please consider attending next Saturday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m., here at Saint Elizabeth.

This week, March 4th, Sister Tiberh Hagos celebrated her 25th Anniversary of Religious Life.  We, as a parish, together with Sister Tiberh's family and "Religious" family, will celebrate this milestone on June 27 at Saint Elizabeth.

Remember to mark your calendar for our parish Lenten Retreat.  We need you to participate and attend the retreat, Saturday, March 28.  This important event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
