Alice Howard and Shelton Jones (Ethel Cooley as Dr. Seuss)

On Friday, March 7, 2014, Ethel Cooley, Alice Howard and Shelton Jones participated in the annual "Dr. Seuss, Read Across America Day at Overby-Sheppard Elementary School".  As you can see, they were dressed in appropriate headgear to read to the children.

This is one of the activities for which St. E's parishioners volunteer their time and talents to benefit the school in our community.

Annual Christmas Program at Overby-Sheppard School ~ 12/10/13 ~ Set 1 ~ Photos by Rita Hatchett

On Tuesday, December 10th, the St. Elizabeth Gospel Choir joined the parents, teachers, students and volunteer groups to present the annual Overby-Sheppard Elementary School Christmas dinner and concert.  We have been invited to sing at this concert for several years.

St. Elizabeth's has a close connection to Overby-Sheppard School over the school year so this concert is part of our participation in their community activities.  Other churches and groups connected to the school are Trinity Lutheran Church, Hope Community, Northside Outreach Center, St. Michael's Catholic Church and 5th Street Baptist Church.

Rita Hatchett was kind enough to provide these wonderful pictures.  I have divided the photos into three articles, so be sure to scroll down to see them.

Dr. Seuss Day, 2013, at Overby-Sheppard Elementary School

Several of our parishioners were front and center to help the students of Overby-Sheppard Elementary School celebrate Dr. Seuss Day.  Here are a few of the photos.  Unfortunately, we cannot show the children's pictures when facing the camera.  However, I was able to use one of the pictures by blocking out some of the children so they could not be identified.

Enjoy!
