Greetings!

Today, June 9th, we celebrate the Feast Day of Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and Mary.  How wonderful it is for us to pause and think about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  They are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.

Throughout the summer we are called to think about how each of us is challenged and invited to think about and pray for one gift, so that we may grow in a deeper understanding and appreciation of this gift of the Holy Spirit.  Which gift are you in most need of?

Mark your calendar, St. Elizabeth is participating with Holy Rosary and St. Paul parishes, in the Vacation Bible School; the dates are June 24-June 27.  We are in need of volunteers to help with the program and certainly, need all the children of the parish to participate in this special Vacation Bible School summer event.

Blessings and safe travels during this summer.  May the Lord be with you wherever you go and whatever you do.

Vacation Bible School #2 - Adult Education Program - Class at St. E's - July 17, 2014 ~ Photos by Dr. Sandra Torain

The focus of The St. Elizabeth segment of the summer program were the Psalms.  Dr. David Torain was our instructor. He led the group in reflections on the authorship, history and interesting facts about the psalms and the psalmists.

The Vacation Bible School Program ended on Friday evening with a special Teaching Mass to help our Baptist friends to better understand Roman Catholic worship.  Mass was followed by a dinner in the parish hall with special entertainment by the children.

This was the scene at Fifth Street Baptist Church during the Adult Program the first night of Vacation Bible School, July 14th.  The children and young people had been divided into groups according to age and sent with their teachers to their designated classrooms.
