Fr. Jim's Jots - Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ - June 23. 2019

Fr. Jim's Jots

Greetings!

As a church, we are blessed to utilize and to celebrate many ministries and increase ministries here at St. Elizabeth Church.  As a result, we have discovered a need to improve our facilities on an on-going basis.  This year we applied for a Home Mission Grant from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond and $10,000 was granted to increase our electrical capacity and to install air conditioning in the parish hall/basement of the church!

It became evident that not only was this needed, but when wall inspections took place, deficiencies in the church's electrical equipment were found that needed repair to avoid damage or perhaps, even a fire.

As a result, we are undertaking extensive actions to update and avoid possible dangerous situations.  We are installing new air conditioning, electrical services and adequate and increased power for all of our functions and activities.  A large portion of this cost will be provided through the diocesan grant.

Thank you for your ongoing generosity, support and prayers for our ever-growing parish.

Blessings,

Fr. Jim Arsenault

Trinity Sunday 2019 at St. Elizabeth Church - Children's Liturgy and Blessing of the Dads ~ Photos and Info by Liz Wiznerowicz

Look at our big crowd for Children's Liturgy on Holy Trinity Sunday.  We all acted out James Weldon Johnson's poem, "Creation."  He was the co-author of "Lift Every Voice and Sing."

Fr. Jim's Jots - Trinity Sunday, June 16, 2019

Fr. Jim's Jots

Greetings!

Today, we celebrate the Feast Day of the Most Holy Trinity.  Growing up in Detroit, I have fond memories of Holy Trinity Parish, in a once Irish neighborhood called Cork Town, across the street from the old Tiger Stadium.  Msgr. Clement Kern, who was the Pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, was known for his outreach to the poor and his involvement in the rights of blue-collar labor workers.

He was also a spiritual director for seminarians; he was a helpful and wonderful dedicated priest who served the church and was an inspiration to future priests like myself, to care for those less fortunate than ourselves.

On this Most Holy Trinity Sunday, I am reminded of the love of God and the revealing of his divine nature to us, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today, may we remember the neighborhoods, perhaps like this corner of Richmond, in the area of Highland Park, where God's love is still revealed to us today, and miracles happen.

Blessings,

Fr. Jim Arsenault
