Fr. Jim's Jots - Ascension Sunday, 5.16.21

Ascension Sunday

5.16.21

Fr. Jim's Jots

Dear All,

On Thursday, May 13, I was in Florida with my Sister, Lori and Brother, Tom, with other family members and we had an outside service with the cremains interned into the Columbarium at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Naples, FL.

This day was chosen because it was after Mother's Day and my Father's anniversary of his death, May 13th, five years ago and my anniversary of priesthood.

It was good to gather with family and a few friends to pray the final commendation and bless the place of my Mom's final resting.

I wish to thank all of you for your kindness and prayers during this difficult time.  The community of Saint Elizabeth has been a great source of comfort and hope.  I will be forever thankful.

On May 23, we look forward to joining our Bishop at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for the Sacrament of Confirmation for two of our young people from Saint Elizabeth, Kayden Bragg and Noe' Uwimana.  Please pray for Kayden and Noe' and all our young people to walk with the Holy Spirit all the days of their lives.

Blessings,

Fr. Jim

MOTHER'S DAY!

Fr. Jim's Jots

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Let's make today special for our Mothers! Give your Mom a long Hug today and tell her "Thank You" for all she does to make your life special~~ We also remember those Mothers that have passed away and those Mothers that have lost a child.  Our hearts and prayers surround you today and always.

Happy Mother's Day Blessings!

Fr. Jim

A MOTHER'S DAY PRAYER

Loving God, you wrap your arms around your people and show your everlasting love in the same way a Mother loves her children.  We are grateful for the love you have taught us through the Mothers in our lives.

Our own Mother, who brought us into the world, the mothers of friends who have welcomed us into their homes and families, our grandmothers, god-mothers who took time for us, and the mothers who have helped us even though we were not their children.

Bless all the mothers of this World today.  May they know the fullness of love they have shared and blessed every day of their lives.  Amen

Fr. Jim's Jots - Fifth Sunday of Easter, May 2, 2021

 Fifth Sunday of Easter

May 2 2021

Fr. Jim's Jots

After conversations with past leadership of the Jazz & Food Festival, Parish Council and Finance Council, we have decided NOT to host the 2021 Jazz & Food Festival due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 Virus.  This was a difficult decision but I believe the correct decision.  I hope you understand.  The Jazz & Food Festival has been a source of community pride for the parish of Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Richmond neighborhood and Richmond community.

This will have an impact on our parish budget but you have been very generous during this difficult time.  Thank you for your kind support and prayers.  We will have an online fundraiser (a "Popcorn Sales Fundraiser"), more details at a later date.

It is my hope to have a safe and successful Jazz & Food Festival in 2022.  If you have any thoughts or would like to help with the 2022 Jazz & Food Festival, please contact me at our parish office, 804-329-4599.

This Sunday we remember all who have died of the COVID-19 Virus, those who have gotten the Virus and are still recovering and all first responders.  Please get vaccinated.  It's safe and open to all.

Blessings,

Fr. Jim
