Following the death of George Floyd, and in recognition of ongoing systemic racism, a committee at St. Elizabeth is designing an activity for the parish.  We would like to know your experience and willingness to participate in such an activity.

The goal of the activity would be to deepen conversations/relationships around racial injustice among St. Elizabeth Parishioners.  Your answers to this short survey (approx. 5 min.) are completely confidential.

Contact Margaret at margaret.rittenhouse@gmail.com or Sr. Cora Marie at coramarie11@comcast.net with any questions you might have.  Thank you for completing the survey.  The last date to complete this survey is July 24, 2020.

Fr. Jim's Jots ~ Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, July 19, 2020

Fr. Jim's Jots

What can I do to make a difference during this difficult and challenging time?

In the words of Pope Francis:

* Fast from hurting words and say kind words.

* Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude.

* Fast from anger and be filled with patience.

* Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.

* Fast from worries and trust in God.

* Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity.

* Fast from pressures and be prayerful.

* Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy.

* Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others.

* Fast from grudges and be reconciled.

* Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.

* Fast from hate and prejudice...

Put on the mind of Christ.

Blessings,

Fr. Jim

Social Justice - Calling for People of Color - Our Parish Social Justice Committee ~ Info Provided by Deacon Chris Barrett

Calling for People of Color

Our Parish Social Justice committee is now focused entirely on issues of racial inequity; e.g., in economic, educational, healthcare, housing, and transportation opportunities.  But the elephant in the Zoom (our meetings are still by Zoom) is that we're a very white committee.  We invite any interested parishioners, but especially our Black parishioners, to join our committee, which ordinarily meets once a month.

Next meeting is Wednesday, July 22, at 7 p.m., via Zoom.  To join or for more info, contact Chris at 804-266-3596 or at cbarrett@stelizcc.org.
