Fr. Jim's Jots - Fifth Sunday of Lent, March 21, 2021

Fifth Sunday of Lent

Fr. Jim's Jots

I have been praying for our parish during this Lent in a special way for God's Grace to guide our future with love and healing.

Next Sunday is Palm Sunday, so we would like all households to receive your palms and visit on Saturday, March 27th, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  There is NO wrong way to celebrate the  Sacrament of Confession.  I will be outside wearing a mask, you will be asked to "Stay in your car."  We start with the:

  • Sign of the Cross
  • How long since your last confession?
  • Mention the sin or sins that have been the most difficult (not your life history)
  • A penance will be given
  • You pray an Act of Contrition.  It can be as simple as: "Lord God, I am sorry for my sins and hope to avoid them in the future."
  • Priest prays the prayer of absolution
  • You say, "Thank you, Father."
Keep it simple and short.

Fr. Jim's Jots

Greetings and Lenten Blessings,

You're invited to join Holy Rosary Parish and the Office for Black Catholics for a Special Zoom Retreat - REVIVAL, Monday, March 22, 2021 at 6 p.m.  What a great opportunity to join our friends at Holy Rosary parish for this special REVIVAL  (Check here for information to attend).

I am so thankful for your ongoing support and kindness during the COVID-19 pandemic.  We are starting to get more parishioners attending our Sunday Mass at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. in-person at the Church.  We are still practicing the COVID-19 guidelines but please consider starting to return to Church.  We all need to receive the Sacraments.

Easter Sacraments:  please call the parish office, 804-329-4599, if you have a family who would like to celebrate baptism.

May the Lord Bless You this Lenten Season,

Fr. Jim
